At the half of my awesome exchange year!
It is a month ago that I let something know of me to you.
so it is now time for a new story what happened in the month.
You see what my title say I'm at half of my exchange year! What I kind think it is sad because it went so fast already the 5 months and I don't want to think about already going home. I like the Netherlands also for sure but I really like it here and feel me a kind of home here also. Made some really nice friends and I do a lot of things with them, I have always fun with them. I know that I always keep contact with my friends in this exchange year because my exchange year I will never forget that!
In the last story I told you that the basketball season ended at February 6 because we didn't made the play-offs. At February 6 I had senior night and it was fun but they call your name and your parents have to walk in the field and we make a picture and everybody cried because the team going to miss each other. We almost made the play-offs we lost the last game and that was the game for to go to the play-offs But it was an unforgettable experience. My team was awesome helped me with a lot of things and we had so much fun together. I'm kind of sad that the season is over because it was a nice exercise and the team it was like a family for everybody because you play every day with each other and you see each other more sometimes than your own real family.
But now I have more time to do a lot with my host family what is also important and now I can see more from the amazing America.
What I going to do really soon is cooking something dutch what I didn't do that yet because I was always gone at dinner time. I want to cook hutspot and our flat pancakes (pannenkoeken) what I hope they going to like it.
The weather is here not very nice really cold like today in celsius: -20 degrees and there is some snow on the floor but not a lot it is more the cold what is not nice because we had this week 2 days off and maybe tomorrow also because it's going to be cold also. The snow days is nice but also not because we have to make that up and that is going to be in the beginning of June what not really nice is because if we didn't had the snow days than we were done with school at June 4.
But it is also nice a free day that's for sure!
School is going good. The school year is in two parts (2 semesters), we are already in the second semester so that means the schedules they are changed not all of the lessons but some because some lessons they are only a half year. My schedule is this semester: English, economics, ceramics, sociology, seasonal craft, mini foods, gym. Pretty nice schedule you see!
I went with my organization to hidden valley for to go skiing and it was really fun with all the exchange students and it was my first time outdoor skiing.
I went also to a another school for international days it is something from my organization. I went to the school named: 'Pine Richland' it was a very big school, bigger than the school where I go in America. I went there for 3 days and stayed with an another host family and I had an another exchange student in the host family. She comes from Germany I knew her already and she is a friend of me. It was nice to see the difference from another school in Pennsylvania. But I know that I like Butler senior high school much more. (maybe because my friends and it feels just more like my school in America).
I hope it is going good with everybody!
And that you enjoyed my story also this time.

Nice that you're going to cook a Dutch dish! I also did that for my friends in Hungary. Besides hotspot or pancakes, it's also nice to make filled eggs, as appetizer.

Hi Nienke, what a full program you have! And lots of adventures too. Good on you! I'm sure your host family will love the hutspot and pancakes - they will want the recipe, I'm sure. Really happy for you that you have such good friends there and that you're having lots of fun with them. I'm sure they'll want to come over for a visit to the Netherlands when you're home - but let's not think about that now: have a happy time!
Much love from Maaike
